Westwood Place has been serving seniors and families since 1988, but the story of our building began even earlier.
Originally constructed in 1957 as Watertown’s Community Hospital, the building holds a special place in the hearts of many local families. For years it was where neighbors received care, where friendships were strengthened, and where many people in the community began their lives. When the hospital closed in the 1980s, its loss was deeply felt throughout Watertown. Since recognizing both the building’s history and its continued importance to the community, Michael Gorra envisioned a new purpose for this landmark. Rather than allowing it to stand empty, he transformed it into Westwood Place – creating a welcoming assisted living community where the tradition of caring for others could continue.
Since opening as Westwood Place, the community has grown through thoughtful additions and renovations while remaining committed to its original purpose: providing a warm, supportive place that residents are proud to call home.
Following Michael’s passing in 2016, owner Joy Gorra continued that commitment. Today, Westwood Place remains locally owned and independently operated, dedicated to helping residents maintain their independence while receiving personalized support in a comfortable, home like environment.
More than a building, Westwood Place is part of Watertown’s history and we are honored to continue that serving the community that has supported us for so many years.

Director of Nursing
Killian Keaveny, RN, serves as Director of Nursing at Westwood Place, where he leads our nursing team with a commitment to compassionate resident-centered care. He brings experience from the skilled nursing setting, where he developed a strong clinical foundation while caring for older adults with a wide range of healthcare needs. Killian is a graduate of the College of Saint Scholastica.
As Director of Nursing, Killian works closely with residents, families, physicians, therapists and our caregiving team to ensure each resident receives individualized care that promotes dignity, independence, and the highest possible quality of life.
Killian believes that exceptional care begins with building meaningful relationships. He values open communication with residents and families and strives to create an environment where everyone feels heard, respected and supported.
